Novitas BKK is one of the largest health insurance funds in Germany and is characterized by its caring nature. This shapes not only the attitude towards customers but also towards colleagues. Active throughout Germany and represented in 31 branches, the heart of Novitas BKK beats in the Ruhr region. Because here, the roots of the health insurance fund have their origin. As a traditional health insurance fund, which has existed since 1836, Novitas BKK has a long history. Back then, Alfred Krupp founded the "Hülfs-Krankenkasse der Kruppschen Gußstahlfabrik", whose basic idea is the model for today's health insurance system. Originally responsible for individual companies, Novitas BKK has evolved over time. Among the sponsoring companies are well-known firms such as thyssenkrupp AG, STEAG AG, Ruhrbahn, Esso, Karstadt, Gruner + Jahr and many others. The name Novitas (Latin: novitas = novelty and Latin vita = life) is approximately 25 years old and dates back to the merger of BKK Thyssen Stahl, BKK STEAG AG, BKK Th. Goldschmidt AG with BKK Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg to form Novitas Vereinigte BKK.
