The Maltese are an international Catholic relief organization that supports people in need regardless of religion, origin, or political affiliation. With almost 50,000 volunteers and almost 31,000 full-time employees, the Maltese are among the major employers in the health and social care sector in Germany. The close collaboration between full-time and volunteer work characterizes the Maltese. "Recognizing need and offering closeness" - this is the Maltese idea. We help because we can and because we believe. Expressing faith and helping those in need: Our 950-year-old order tasks are fulfilled by the Maltese today in a contemporary way, as it corresponds to the needs of people and the societal framework conditions. All our services and facilities are recognized as non-profit. What we generate flows back into the maintenance or further expansion of our aid for people in need - because closeness matters!
